HOLD MUSIC! A contest.

It's hard to imagine being excited about hold music, but here I am. We commissioned store alumni, teacher on leave and good friend Colin Nealis to create some new on-hold music for our phone system. What a treat!

And the contest:

the first person to email us (send to the Music Shop) and successfully identify three instruments that Colin used in the recording will receive a $25 gift certificate. What fun! Just call us at 250-389-1988 and ask to be put on hold. Seriously.

Colin is just about to release his first CD under his new project, Pocket Orchestra (check out a preview here)  He is also a big part of Aidan Knight's sound, and is about to head out on tour with Aidan to release their new record Small Reveal.

How Music Lessons Can Help Your Child

We’ve heard about the Mozart Effect: the theory that listening to classical music can make our kids smarter. Well, move over, Mozart. Learning to play an instrument, even if it’s to jam with Justin Bieber’s CD, has broader benefits. A University of Toronto study found that six- to 11-year-olds who took music lessons had higher IQs and better grades.
