Jessica Benini is a captivating singer/songwriter and inspired teacher. She began her musical journey as an acoustic guitarist at age nine and graduated from Rosebud School of the Arts in Alberta where she trained as an actor and musician for the stage. This experience enabled her to develop her voice and guitar skills by performing music such as: musical theatre, English and Irish folk music, pop, bluegrass, country, roots and gospel. She has studied vocal techniques with a variety of diverse instructors across North America and also has experience performing in choirs.
Jessica was selected to participate in the 2005 Canadian National Voice Intensive at UBC in Vancouver. She has participated in voice and performance workshops in London, Latvia, and New York to help develop herself as a performing artist and a vocal coach. She continues to perfect her craft, currently working with vocal coaches, Lucas Marchand (Toronto) and Chris York (New York).
Jessica was nominated for “Vocal Performance of the Year” at the 2014 Vancouver Island Music Awards and “Best Live Act” in 2012. She has also been the featured artist for Broadway Sessions at the Ha! Comedy Club in Times Square, NYC in 2011.

Vocals: Jessica teaches students the practice of strengthening breath control, developing range and tone, releasing vocal strain, and singing freely without harm by protecting the voice. She works to develop a student’s ear for a better understanding of pitch. As well, she works with students to implement other practical techniques, while guiding them to use their heart and emotion for a strong, authentic and natural performance.
Guitar/Ukulele: Jessica helps students to develop different skills including tuning, rhythmic patterns and strumming, chord progressions, finger picking techniques, scales, notation and theory.
Songwriting: Jessica loves working with her students to develop songs that showcase their abilities and allows them to speak straight from their heart and soul. She guides them to create stories and encourages their songwriting ideas to help structure each song so they achieve their own individual sound.
"Learning guitar with Jessica is great fun. Her easy manner makes it comfortable to learn and try new approaches. She breaks down the components of each song, offers great tips and tricks, and leaves me with some stretch goals that make me want to keep practicing in between lessons!" ~ Anne McKinnon, B.C.
