He strives to be versatile, performing jazz, r&b, classic jazz, hip hop, soul, funk and pop music. He has been a music teacher for over 10 years and has been fascinated with music from a young age learning to play the ukulele at the age of six years old. He teaches at all levels from total beginners to advanced players.
Wes is a regular performer at the Victoria Jazz Festival and Hermann's Jazz Club. In 2013, he traveled to the Netherlands for two months performing and recording an all original LP: “Off Pulse Quartet: Live in Holland” (2014). His current band, the Wes Carroll Confabulation, includes some of Victoria's busiest musicians integrating new compositions and arrangements at each performance.
He teaches a wide array of styles including repertoire in various genres, theory, chord/scale/arpeggio knowledge, rock soloing, picking/strumming technique, song writing, and jazz theory/improvisation,. Since graduating with a Jazz Studies degree from Vancouver Island University he has added advanced jazz harmony, theory, sight reading, musicianship and ear training to his teaching arsenal.
