Megan McCaffrey is one of two members of “The Blackwood Two”, a Victoria based Old Thyme Folk duo. Megan works in Larsen Music’s String Department and is currently studying Jazz violin at Camosun College. She has toured with groups performing various fiddle styles including Canadian Old Thyme, Celtic, and more recently Old Thyme Bluegrass and Jazz.
Megan uses the traditional "call and response" fiddle learning method. She teaches mainly by ear but will include an element of music theory in lessons. She aims to guide students through theory, reading and ear training and the breakdown of fiddle tunes. Megan offers flexibility to suit the learning styles of her students. Megan believes that fiddle should be a fun and enjoyable way to get involved in a fantastic musical community.

Emily McDermid is finishing her Bachelors of Music Education at the University of Victoria. While her main instrument is trumpet, she is experienced with other brass including horn and tuba. Currently she is involved with the UVic Wind symphony and a Balkan gypsy jazz band named Bucan Bucan. Emily teaches a wide range of styles thanks to studying under five fantastic private instructors including Lou Ranger, Niki Taylor, and Tom Shorthouse.
